The Model C-2A, 2 Ton Rescue Come-A-Long™, frequently referred to as a cable puller, hoist, or hand winch, is designed and constructed to meet the rigid specifications of and is approved for use by EMERGENCY SQUAD TRAINING INSTITUTE, inventors and designers of the highest-quality American-made rescue and extrication equipment.

This heavy-duty pulling and lifting device is designed and constructed to meet the demanding requirements of extrication and rescue professionals.

The C-2A, 2-ton Rescue Come-A-Long is a hoist designed for overhead lifting and pulling with a two-part line.

The hoist is manufactured utilizing a high-strength cast aluminum alloy housing with stainless steel springs, lubricated-for-life bearings, extra flexible 133-strand galvanized steel aircraft cable, and 360-degree swiveling hooks constructed of drop-forged steel. The steel hooks are equipped with safety latches for positive load engagement.

All C-2A Rescue Come-A-Longs are Made in America to stringent ISO 9001:2008 Standards and ASME/ANSI Standard B-30.21.

C-2A, 2-ton Rescue Come-A-Longs are non-destructively factory tested to 150% of rated working load capacity, unlike our competitors, who only test to 125%. The C-2A,   2-ton Rescue Come-A-Long is a heavy-duty rescue hoist designed for overhead lifting and pulling to meet the demanding requirements of fire and rescue professionals. It is not to be confused with an imported or hardware store type Come-along, which is not designed or rated for overhead lifting and does not have the safety features of this professional rescue tool.

The proprietary quickly reversible handle is rapidly removable and quickly replaceable. The reversible handle switches positions in seconds, so you pull downward when lifting overhead. The handle may be inserted into the bale from either direction, permitting easy access and operation in tight places. The handle can be easily removed to prevent tampering with the hoist or load. The handles are designed to bend at severe overload (125% to 150% of the rated capacity), stopping you from further damage, protecting the user from injury, and protecting the hoist from damage. The bending of the handle gives the operator a visual warning to stop immediately and reduce the load before the other components of the C-2A Rescue Come-A-Long are damaged. Each Come-A-Long has two handles to permit a rapid replacement  and return to operation after an overload situation. 

The cable/drum anchor system utilizes an exclusive steel swagged ball shank terminal, which locks the cable securely in the drum and allows full cable extension. The exclusive swagged ball shank terminal eliminates the use of two set screws to secure the cable and the requirement to maintain 2 or 3 wraps of unusable cable on the drum required by other manufacturers. The drum design and guide system practically eliminates "bird nests" and cable crushing on the drum. Crimped malleable copper sleeves (not aluminum) provide superior crimping of the cable strands.

With a two-part line, the cable, constructed of 7x19, ¼” diameter, 133 strands, high strength galvanized steel aircraft cable, provides an unequaled total of 10 feet of lift or pull on a 2-ton load. With a single part line, the C-2A  hoist offers  21 feet of lift or pull on a 1-ton load. This hoist provides a very short hook-to-hook distance of only 26½” inches, with a total weight of just 15½ pounds, to create a cable hoist with the most extended pull, shortest length, and lightest weight in its class.

A reversing lever is provided to lower loads one notch at a time. The unloaded cable may be stripped from the drum by operating the “Quick Release” lever to permit more rapid positioning when attaching to the object to be pulled or lifted. Internal safety devices will not permit cable “free-wheeling” when a load or tension is applied to the cable to protect the operator from a sudden load drop.

MARINE-GRADE 2-TON RESCUE COMES ALONG

Marine-grade models were explicitly developed in harsh marine environments and other corrosive conditions. They provide the same capacity, design, and features as standard models.

LIGHTER WEIGHT

The C-2A Rescue Come-A-Long weighs just 15 1/2 lbs while providing a complete two tons of pulling capacity, more extended cable pull reach, shorter hook-to-hook distance, and lighter weight achieved with our high-strength cast aluminum alloy frame. Our open frames allow instant tool inspection, and less force application is required than competitor’s models.

The C-2A Two Ton Rescue Come-A-Long has blue color-coded safety latch hooks and handles, which permit rapid identification of its 2-ton capacity when using a two-part line without looking at the data plates. On a single-line pull, this hoist has a 1-ton capacity.

SAFETY LOAD HOLDING

Our precision machining to 0.001 " tolerances, ISO 9001:2008-certified quality procedures, and ASME/ANSI Standard B-30.21 result in unmatched smooth winch operation and precise load adjustment. One of two interlocking pawls is always engaged to prevent load drop.

RAPID LOWERING

The unloaded cable may be stripped from the drum by operating the “free-wheeling” lever, which permits more rapid positioning of the Come-A-Long while attached to the object to be lifted or pulled. Internal safety devices will not allow “free wheeling” when the load or tension on the Come-A-Long is greater than 40 lbs to protect the operator and the lifted load.

CABLE GUIDE

Based on user feedback, we have updated the cable guide's design. The new guide (part number 753) increases its durability and makes it easier and quicker to replace should it be damaged.

CABLE RETURN CRANK

A cable return crank is permanently attached to the hoist. The reversible handle attaches directly to the drum for slack cable takeup in those situations where the handle use is preferred.

FULL CABLE LENGTH OPERATION

Our exclusive steel swagged ball shank cable retention system is the only one that allows the operator to utilize the entire cable length and pull the Come-A-Long to its full rated capacity on an empty cable drum.

CABLE EYE

A steel cable eye protects the highly flexible 1/4" 7 x 19 aircraft cable at the hook attachment with a large hydraulically crimped copper sleeve used to secure the cable in the eye, unlike other manufacturers who use an aluminum crimp sleeve.

Marine-grade models were explicitly developed in harsh marine environments and other corrosive conditions. They provide the same capacity, design, and features as standard models.

The C-2A-M, Marine Grade Come-A-Longs, has an anodized aluminum frame, stainless steel cable and springs, and cadmium-plated steel shafts to provide corrosion protection and long life for Come-A-Longs exposed to corrosive marine environments.

FIVE HOOK OPTIONS

Five different drop-forged steel hook options are available:

All hooks are drop-forged, AISI 5140 alloy steel, and have 360° easy swiveling designs with a minimum of a 5:1 safety factor exceeding the 4:1 industry standard.

• Spring Safety Latch Shank Hook for positive load engagement is standard.
• Swivel Gate Hook option: The hook latch revolves around the hook and is lockable once ready for use.
• Removable Clevis Hook is available.  Easily swap by removing the clevis pin and cotter pin. 
• Eye Bolt. Use an eye bolt to secure a connection directly to the hoist.
• Self Locking Hook. Once under tension, the gate automatically closes.

Lower four ratchet teeth at a time to position loads quickly using the rapid lowering switch.

MAINTENANCE

Minimal hoist maintenance is required. The open frame construction provides instant tool inspection, lubricated for life bearings, crimped copper cable sleeves, and Marine Grade models with anodized frames, stainless steel cable, and cadmium-plated shafts designed for use in corrosive environments. These features reduce maintenance.
