The time-tested EMS SHORT SPINE BOARD or Short Extrication Spine Board, MODEL B-2, is constructed of 5/8” high-strength, nonsplintering, smooth-finish, water-resistant birch plywood. It provides rigid patient support without pins, rails, and support braces found in other types of short backboards. The natural buoyancy of the birch plywood makes this board an ideal tool for water rescues.
Our compact short extrication spine board measures 16” x 32” with lacquer smooth surfaces designed to easily slide behind the patient to provide cervical and thoracic support during extrication. This spine board is designed to fit into automobiles and tight spaces to provide critical cervical, thoracic, and lumbar support necessary to protect the patient during extrication and transportation to a medical facility. The non-metallic construction makes this Short Extrication Backboard X-ray and MRI permeable, allowing it to remain in place during these critical medical examination procedures, eliminating the need to move the patient unnecessarily.
The Short Spine Board has thirteen large-sized combination hand holds and strap slots. Fourteen additional strap retention grooves permit many patient support and restraint options, providing options for each unique rescue situation.

The rigid, smooth surfaces of the birch plywood B-2 Short Extrication Spine Board provide excellent patient support, protection, strength, lightweight, and compact size, allowing it to be easily slid under or behind the patient without the board hanging up or getting caught on obstructions or sharp objects.
The 16" width is designed to provide patient cervical and thoracic support while allowing the board to easily pass down the aisle in a school bus, commercial bus, or an airplane.
The construction of the marine grade birch plywood is combined with the smooth multi-layer lacquer finish of the backboard to make it highly resistant to chemicals, fuel, fluids, and blood-borne pathogens. This backboard will provide you with many years of reliable service. The B-2 Short Extrication Spine Board can be easily cleaned or disinfected by simply washing with detergents or common disinfectants and wiping dry or air drying. Unlike competing models, damaged backboards can be resurfaced to save money and provide many more years of service.
