3 TON HEAVY DUTY COME ALONG
C-3C, 3 TON COME ALONG, A HEAVY DUTY HAND WINCH
The C-3 3 Ton Heavy Duty Rescue Come-A-Long is an American-made, serious cable-pulling device constructed with a heavy-duty large frame that has been specially constructed for heavy pulling and lifting necessary in heavy rescue work.
The C-3 Heavy Duty Rescue Come-A-Long utilizes a special cast aluminum alloy housing with stainless steel springs, self-lubricating bearings galvanized steel extra flexible aircraft cable, and 360-degree swiveling, drop forged steel hooks with latches for positive load engagement. All C-3 Heavy Duty Rescue Come-A-Longs are individually factory tested to 125% of rated capacity.
The proprietary telescoping reversible, handle switches positions in seconds, to provide better leverage for bigger loads, the handle extends from 37 ½” to 57” in seconds, allowing greater leverage. The handle may be inserted into the bale from either direction, permitting easy access and operation in tight places with a downward pull.
An easily replaceable shear pin in the handle assembly breaks with audible noise to warn the operator of serious overload. The hoist remains operational so the load can be reduced as soon as possible and the shear pin replaced. The handle may be easily removed to prevent tampering with the hoist or load.
A two-position handle socket adjusts for additional leverage. Lifting, pulling and most lowering can be accomplished with the socket in the standard position. For additional leverage in lowering or backing off heavy loads, the handle can be moved to the second position.
The cable has an exclusive swagged ball shank terminal assembly which provides full rated length and pulling capacity without requiring cable wrapped on the drum.
With a two-part line, the C-3 Heavy Duty Rescue Come-A-Long’s 5/16” diameter highly flexible aircraft cable provides 7 ½ feet of lift on a 3-ton load with a handle pull of 105 lbs. The hook-to-hook distance is only 26 ½” inches. Total weight is 34 lbs.
A reversing lever is provided to permit the lowering of loads one notch at a time. The unloaded cable may be stripped from the drum by operation of the “Quick Release” lever to permit more rapid positioning while attaching to the object to be lifted or pulled. Internal safety devices will not permit “free-wheeling” when a load/tension is applied.
REVERSIBLE TELESCOPING HANDLE - provides better leverage for bigger loads. The telescoping feature permits pulling from a standing position, extending from 37 1/2" to 57" in seconds to provide additional leverage for lifting heavy loads. The handle may be used in the retracted position in those situations where operating space is restricted.
TWO-POSITION HANDLE SOCKET - adjusts for additional leverage. Lifting, pulling, and most lowering or backing off can be accomplished with the socket in the standard position. For additional leverage in lowering or backing-off heavy loads the handle socket can be moved to the second position.
SHEAR PIN - the handle assembly breaks with an audible noise to warn the operator of a serious overload. The hoist remains operational permitting the load to be reduced as soon as possible. Shear pin replacement requires a matter of seconds. Each hoist is shipped with a spare shear pin allowing operations to be continued after an overload is reduced. Additional shear pins are available for a minimal charge.
CABLE EYE - A steel cable eye protects the highly flexible 1/4", 7 x 19 strand aircraft cable at the hook attachment with a large hydraulically crimped copper sleeve used to secure the cable in the eye, unlike other manufacturers who use an aluminum crimp sleeve.
SAFETY LOAD HOLDING - Unmatched smooth winch operation and precise load adjustment are the results of our precision machining to 0.001" tolerances and ISO 9001:2008 Certified quality procedures. One of two interlocking pawls is always engaged to prevent load dropping.
RAPID LOWERING - The unloaded cable may be stripped from the drum by the operation of the “free-wheeling” lever to permit more rapid positioning of the Come-A-Long while attached to the object to be lifted or pulled. To protect the operator and the load being lifted, Internal safety devices will not permit “free wheeling” when the load or tension on the Come-A-Long is greater than 40 lbs.
CABLE GUIDE - Based on user feedback, we have updated the design of the cable guide. The new guide (part number 753) increases the durability of the part and makes the cable guide easier and quicker to replace should it be damaged.
CABLE RETURN CRANK - The reversible handle attaches directly to the drum for slack cable takeup.
Our exclusive steel swagged ball shank cable retention system allows the operator to utilize the entire length of the cable and pull the full rated capacity of the Come-A-Long without the requirement to maintain two or three wraps of unusable cable on the drum like other manufacturers' models.
FIVE HOOK OPTIONS
Five different drop-forged steel hook options are available:
All hooks are drop forged, AISI 5140 alloy steel, 360° easy swiveling designs with a minimum of a 5:1 safety factor exceeding the 3:1 industry standard.
- Spring Safety Latch Shank Hook for positive load engagement is standard.
- Swivel Gate Hook option The hook latch revolves on the hook and is lockable once ready for use.
- Removable Clevis Hook is available. Easily swap by removing the clevis pin and cotter pin.
- Eye Bolt. Use an eye bolt to secure a connection directly to the hoist.
- Self Locking Hook. Once under tension the gate automatically closes.
MAINTENANCE - Minimal hoist maintenance is required. The open frame construction provides instant tool inspection, lubricated for life bearings, crimped copper cable sleeves, and Marine Grade models for corrosive environments, reducing maintenance needs.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Our hoists were the first manufactured to be ISO 9001:2015 Quality Program Certified. Our quality assurance programs are monitored and updated on a regular basis, and they feature:
- Tolerances to .001 inch
- Use of an optical comparator that assures proper fitting of parts
- Hardness testers, plug gauges and digital calipers ensure continuous compliance with our high QA standards
- Use of a universal test machine for destructive testing of peak load capacities and cable stretching, accurate to 1/10th of a pound
- cycle machine that tests the overall quality of the hoist
- CE and TUV certification for European markets
REPAIR SERVICES
Many parts of our ratchet winch hoists are field-replaceable. Because parts can be replaced "in-house", you can save yourself the cost of purchasing a brand-new hoist and prolong the life of your hoist.
Many of the parts on the hoist are available for purchase from us and you can use them to replace worn-out or broken components in-house. However, if a winch hoist is damaged substantially, it may require professional repair at an authorized service facility.
We offer comprehensive repair services for all of our manual come-along ratchet winch hoists. If your hoist becomes severely damaged you can send it back to our repair facility where we can pinpoint the problem and return the hoist to its original condition and proof test.
